Rani Laxmibai

Born in 1828, Rani Lakshmibai, or Jhansi ki Rani as she later became popular as. She was crowned Queen of Jhansi Kingdom at the age of 24 following her husband’s demise, and she was a key fighter in India’s initial struggle for freedom. Though a short-lived life, she served as an inspiration to several people in their contribution toward the independence of India.

Sarojini Naidu

Mahatma Gandhi dubbed Sarojini Naidu “Bharat Kokila” for her skills as a writer. She was indeed a key player in the nation’s struggle for liberation from British colonialism. She was chosen President of the INC in 1925 and subsequently named Governor of the United Provinces in 1947. She was the first woman to serve as Governor of the Dominion of India.

Lata Mangeshkar

Lata Mangeshkar, dubbed India’s Nightingale, was born in 1929. This well-known and beloved music artist is among India’s most recognizable female voices. Throughout her seven-decade profession, she has given her vocals for over 25000 songs in many Indian languages.

Indira Gandhi

Popularly referred to as the Iron Lady of India, Indira Gandhi became the nation’s first female Prime Minister. She became recognized as one of the nation’s most influential political figures. Throughout her tenure as Prime Minister, Indira Gandhi has guided India’s political, economic, and technical progress.

P T Usha

Pilavullakandi Thekkeparambil Usha widely known as P T Usha is a former Indian track and field athlete and has inspired and paved the way for many more girls in India to pursue careers in sports.  Over her athletic lifetime, she had earned 101 international awards, and she is a real example for younger girls who wish to pursue athletics and also have high aspirations.

M C Mary Kom

Mary Kom, born Mangte Chungneijang in 1983, rose to national and international prominence as a professional boxer and is currently a 5 times world champion. She has been the only Indian female boxer to compete in the Summer Olympic Games in 2012 when she clinched a bronze medal and brought laurel to the country.

Mother Teresa

Mother Teresa, among the most regarded humanitarians, was an Albanian-born Indian national born in 1910. She had dedicated most of her life to assisting the destitute, the sick, and the unloved all around the world under her congregation of Missionaries of Charity, and the unloved all around the globe.
