Must read

Her stunning Met Gala gown was indeed the buzz of the event, but Natasha Poonawalla’s name is recognizable to many vogue people not just in India but evidently around the globe. The Indian billionaire philanthropist is renowned as much for her fashion sense as for her jet-setting way of life and glamorous acquaintances.

Natasha Poonawalla, the Indian Who Made Heads Turn at Met Gala

She is frequently encountered at some of the world’s foremost fashion gatherings, rubbing shoulders with the celebs from movies and music industries to top-notch fashion designers in the world.

Sabyasachi produced the dramatic Met Gala ensemble she wore on Monday, which celebrated the Indian sari and it was teamed with an intricate Schiaparelli Couture corset that wrapped over her head.

Her interpretation of this year’s theme, Gilded Glamour, which highlighted New York’s late-nineteenth-century golden period from 1870 to 1890, was among the event’s most unforgettable ensembles, accessorized with unique Sabyasachi Fine Jewelleries.

Who is Natasha Poonawalla?

Natasha is the executive director of India’s Serum Institute, India’s biggest vaccine maker which apparently became the world’s largest producer of COVID 19 vaccines. Her spouse, Indian billionaire Adar Poonawalla, is the CEO of the firm, which manufactures the Covishield coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford, along with other things.

Natasha is also the chairperson of the Villoo Poonawalla Charitable Foundation, established after her late mother-in-law, a role that brings her to gatherings all over the globe.

Natasha was born and raised in Pune, Maharashtra. She went on to complete her master’s degree from the London School of Economics. Natasha has an M.Sc. in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources from the London School of Economics and is enthusiastic about the business, charities, fashion, and art.

Natasha is the Director of Poonawalla Science Park in the Netherlands, as well as the Chairperson of the British Asian Children’s Protection Fund for India and a member of the British Asian Trust’s India Advisory Council.

After she returned to India after her completing her Master’s Degree, while on vacation in Goa, she met her future husband Adar at a New Year’s Eve party. Adar Poonawalla is the sole son of Cyrus Poonawalla, the head of the Cyrus Poonawalla Group, which owns the Serum Institute of India.

Cyrus was rated fourth on Forbes magazine’s list of India’s 100 Wealthiest Individuals, with an approximate worth of $24.3 billion. He is now ranked 56th in the world.

Natasha Poonawalla is a go-getter and an achiever in her own right heading so many different capacities, apparently she is so much more than the fashionista that we got to witness in Met Gala 2022.
