Ministry of Finance
The Ministry of Finance is in charge of four key civil services: the Indian Revenue Service, the Indian Audit and Accounts Service, the Indian Economic Service, and the Indian Civil Accounts Service. It is also the supreme regulating authority for one of the key functionality services, the Indian Cost and Management Accounts Services.
The Ministry of Finance is involved with the Indian economy and serves as the Indian Treasuries. Specifically, it deals with taxes, fiscal law, banking institutions, equity markets, center and state budgets, and the Central Budget.
The Minister of Finance is the chief of the Ministry of Finance under the Government of India. The minister of finance, one of the Central Cabinet’s key positions, is in charge of the government’s budgetary policies. The Finance Minister’s primary responsibility is to propose the Central Budget in the Parliament, which details the government’s taxes and fiscal policies for the following financial year. The finance minister also specifies expenditures to all divisions and agencies in the Plan.

Finance Minister of India
Presently Smt Nirmala Sitharaman is the Hon’ble Finance Minister of India and took over the charge from Shri Arun Jaitley in 2019. She is an economist and political leader who is serving as India’s Minister of Finance and Corporate Affairs. She has also been a member of the Rajya Sabha, since 2014.
Sitharaman previously served as India’s Defence Minister and became the country’s second female defense minister as well as the country’s second female to head the ministry of finance since Indira Gandhi and the first full-time female minister of finance. She was the Minister of State for Finance and Corporate Affairs in the Ministry of Finance, as well as the Minister of Commerce and Industry with independent responsibility. She formerly worked as a national spokeswoman for BJP.
