Schengen Visa for Indian

Schengen is a European Union zone made up of 26 nations that have a single visa policy. Governments have all formally curtailed the usage of passports among themselves. Schengen is renowned as the world’s largest visa-free zone for its member nations. The Schengen area accepts both natives and tourists from all around the world. Even though some nations are permitted to visit without a visa to Schengen countries, Indians are not among them.

Applying for Schengen Visa from India

If you reside in India, you must first determine what Schengen Visa you require based on the objective, the duration of your stay, and the number of times you want to travel. The ordinary Schengen Visa is a short-stay visa valid for up to 90 days, with extended stays needing a work or study visa. If you intend on visiting the Schengen Area frequently, multiple-entry visas too are offered.

Indian citizens should request a Schengen Visa at least 6 months prior and no less than 15 days ahead of their trip. Nevertheless, it is recommended that you submit at least 3 weeks ahead of the departure date to account for any difficulties in completing your request.

Schengen Visa Fee

An Indian Schengen Visa costs 80 euros.

You would need to pay administrative expenses for the processing of the application. The payments must be completed to the visa services once you file your request: whether online if you completed a pre-application using an online service, and with the service with which you completed your application.

In the case of visa denial, the costs are not refunded.

The cost of a Schengen Visa varies depending on the applicant’s age:

• For Adult – €80
• For a child aged 12 to 18 – €80
• For a child aged 6 to less than 12 years – €40
• For a child below age 6 there is no fee

Processing fees may be charged by some foreign professional services authorized by Swiss consular officials. These are not refundable, even though the visa request is denied.

Required Document for Visa Application

a Schengen Visa application form, 2 current passport-style pictures, an Indian passport, or other travel papers that are no more than ten years old and are valid for at least three months following your scheduled departure from the Schengen Area

• 1 photocopy of the data page of your passport
• Also, provide a letter from your organization (if employed)
• Declaration of no objection from a school or college (if student)
• A travel and healthcare coverage policy insuring you up to €30,000 in costs
• Individual covering letter accompanied with the whole travel plans (itinerary)
• Airline reservations, train tickets, and other services
• Proof of lodging for the duration of your stay in the Schengen area
• Proof of your civil status, such as a marriage license, birth certification for children, death certificate for a spouse, and, if applicable, ration card
• Financial documentation:
• Payslips for the last 3 months if employed / employment agreement
• If self-employed, a Certificate of Sole proprietor or even other proof of property (proof of land title, proof of agricultural income (sales form), etc.) is required.
• Personal bank statement from the last 3 months with appropriate cash
• Form 16 or Income Tax Return (ITR) (Certificate of Income Tax deducted at the source of salary)
• All papers must be submitted in their original form and in the sequence specified. If you want to keep an original, please supply a duplicate (A4 size).
