List of All-State Governors
Article 153 of the Indian Constitution states that each state must have a governor. Except as otherwise specified in this Article, no individual may be appointed as Governor of two or more states. Article 155 also specifies the Governor’s Nomination, which stipulates that the Governor of a State should be nominated by the President by warrant bearing his hand and seal.
Presently there are 28 states in India and each state has a Governor appointed by the current President of India Shri Ram Nath Kovind. Except in the case of Shri Jagdish Mukhi, who holds the office of Governor for two states simultaneously, all other Governors of states are in charge of a single state.

Term of a Governor in India
Article 156 of the Constitution of India, which lays down the Governor’s term of office, describes the term of the Governor holding office as under;
- The Governor shall serve at the discretion of the President.
- The Governor may quit his position by communicating to the President under his hand.
- According to the preceding subclause, a Governor shall occupy the office for a term of five years beginning on the date he takes office. Granted, however, that a Governor shall continue to hold office till his successor takes office, regardless of the expiry of his tenure.
