Shri Narendra Modi, current PM of India launched Beti Bachao Beti Padhao (BBBP) on January 22, 2015, at Panipat, Haryana. Over a life-cycle spectrum, BBBP tackles the dropping Child Sex Ratio (CSR) and associated concerns about women’s development. It is a collaborative endeavor by the Ministries of Women and Child Development, Health and Family Welfare, and Human Resource Development.
In the initial stage, the program’s primary components include implementation of the PC and PNDT Acts, nationwide information and promotion program, and multi-sectoral action in 100 areas with poor CSR. On the ground, there is a major emphasis on mentality transformation via education, education, information campaigns, and social mobilization.
The multi-sectoral Local Strategic Plan has indeed been operationally defined in practically all states since the inception of Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Training and capacity-building programs have been provided to Trainers in order to further develop the capabilities of district-level officials and frontline employees. From April to October 2015, the Ministry of Women and Child Welfare offered nine similar pieces of training in all states/UTs.
Regional Implementation of the Scheme
Pithoragarh district has made several initiatives to safeguard and educate girls as part of the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao Yojana. The District Task Force and the Block Task Force have both been formed. Sessions of these conferences have been convened, and smooth road maps linked to the Child Sex Ratio have been produced.
To reach out to the larger public, awareness-raising initiatives have been undertaken in order to spread the Scheme more widely. Numerous rallies have been held, with core involvement from numerous institutions, Army schools, government workers, and so on.
Public plays are also held in Pithoragarh to bring awareness to Beti Bachao Beti Padhao. Such street performances are organized not just in communities, but also in markets to increase attention as one of a broad community. Individuals are becoming more aware of the issues surrounding sex-selective abortion as a result of narrative visualization.
The street dramas illustrate issues concerning the girl child and the range of obstacles she confronts throughout her childhood. The message of BBBP has reached 700 kids from PG institutions and numerous Army personnel through a Signatures Drive, Pledge, and Oath Ceremonies.
Mansa district in Punjab has begun a program to encourage females to attend school. The Mansa government wants suggestions from females in schools VI-XII for its ‘Udaan – Sapneya Di Duniya De Rubaru (Udaan – Live Your Dream for One Day)’ initiative. These females will experience one day with a specialist they wish to be, such as a doctor, law enforcement officer, and architect, IAS, or PPS officer.
The program has gotten a positive reaction, and more than 70 kids have already had the opportunity to spend one day with a professional, observing how they operate in a formal setting and assisting them in creating good choices for their future chosen careers.
